Welcome to Whitney Center, where opportunity, hospitality and value live as one.
This new phase of your life is what we often call “active-because-I-want-to-be.” Residents are engaged – in volunteering, as well as cultural, business and educational pursuits. Many are still working, pursuing their passion. And everyone participates in decisions being made.
Feel the hospitality whether you’re dining, engaging in an activity or simply relaxing at home. This is a deep, person-centered hospitality that makes living at Whitney Center so special.
Hamden is central to shopping, museums, galleries, concerts, beaches, snow and skiing, collegiate sports, continuing education and much more. And while at Whitney Center you’ll find comfort in Life Care for ongoing healthcare, as well as the financial stability of the ownership and the range of apartment home options. There’s a true sense of value that frees you to do whatever you’d like.
My parents always did a good job planning for the future. When they moved to Whitney Center more than a decade ago they did not need the services Whitney Center provides (although my father really enjoyed the fact that when something needed fixing, all he had to do was call the front desk!). When my father suffered his first spinal compression fracture, having the health center right there was a godsend. Recently my mother had a bad cold that I was worried might turn into pneumonia. Late in the evening I was talking to her on the phone and she confessed that she felt poorly enough that she was having trouble walking. I live an hour’s drive away, had to be at work at 8:30 the next morning… I called the front desk, told the man who answered about my concerns, and he offered to have a nurse look in on my mother that evening. Anyone lucky enough to have their parents still here in their 90’s will understand how grateful I was at that moment for the planning my parents did when they moved to Whitney Center.- Eleanor Massey Cox
